Calculation of a Shock Response Spectra [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2011
As it is stated in the ISO 18431-4 Standard, a Shock Response Spectrum is defined as the response to a given accelerationacting at a set of mass-damper-spring oscillators, which are adjusted to the different resonance frequencies while their ...

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Damping mechanisms of granular-material damper in structure with high natural frequency (Study of flow of vibration energy)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
We investigated the damping mechanism of a granular-material damper for a structure with a high natural frequency. We focused on the flow of the granular-material vibration energy and considered its relationship with the damping characteristics.

Interaction of Connected Single-Degree-of-Freedom Systems

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2011
AbstractIn most industrial complexes many structures are connected to each other by secondary elements, since the connections between main structures are carried out by these secondary elements, modeling of links is relinquished in primary and also sometimes main seismic analysis, so their effects on the main structures and elements are not considered.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Phonon number measurements using single photon opto-mechanics

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2012
We describe a system composed of two coupled optical cavity modes with a coupling modulated by a bulk mechanical resonator. In addition, one of the cavity modes is irreversibly coupled to a single photon source.

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the
