Impact factor volatility due to a single paper: A comprehensive analysis [PDF]

open access: yesQuantitative Science Studies, 2021
Abstract We study how a single paper affects the impact factor (IF) of a journal by analyzing data from 3,088,511 papers published in 11639 journals in the 2017 Journal Citation Reports of Clarivate Analytics. We find that IFs are highly volatile. For example, the top-cited paper of 381 journals caused their IF to increase by more than 0.

A Single Factor Underlies the Metabolic Syndrome: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Care, 2006
Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to test the hypothesis that the components of the metabolic syndrome are manifestations of a single common factor.Three different datasets were used to test and validate the model. The Spanish and Mauritian studies included 207 men and 203 women and 1,411 men and 1,650 women, respectively.

Prediction of single-cell gene expression for transcription factor analysis [PDF]

open access: yesGigaScience, 2020
Abstract Background Single-cell RNA sequencing is a powerful technology to discover new cell types and study biological processes in complex biological samples. A current challenge is to predict transcription factor (TF) regulation from single-cell RNA data.

Single trial ERP reading based on parallel factor analysis [PDF]

open access: yesPsychophysiology, 2012
AbstractThe extraction of task‐related single trial ERP features has recently gained much interest, in particular in simultaneous EEG‐fMRI applications. In this study, a specific decomposition known as parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) was used, in order to retrieve the task‐related activity from the raw signals.

Spectral Functions for the Tomonaga-Luttinger and Luther-Emery Liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We calculate the finite temperature single hole spectral function and the spin dynamic structure factor of spinfull one-dimensional Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid. Analytical expressions are obtained for a number of special cases. We also calculate the single

Optimisation of a lithium-ion battery package based on heat flow field analysis

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
A lithium-ion battery package model was established. The influence of inlet velocity, inlet angle and battery space on the heat dissipation capacity of the lithium-ion battery pack was studied by the method of computational fluid dynamics.

The potential for misleading correlations in single-factor analysis of complex gradients [PDF]

open access: yesWeb Ecology, 2009
Gradient analysis is an important tool for describing patterns in ecology. Natural environmental gradients are complex combinations of factors, suggesting that gradientsshould, when possible, be analyzed in multi-factorial ways.
