Position Control of a Single-Rod Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator Experiencing a Leaky Piston Seal
Single-rod cylinders are generally employed in electro-hydrostatic actuators (EHAs). A condition that is difficult to detect and could degrade the performance in single-rod EHAs, is the faulty cylinder piston seal. It causes internal leakage from one chamber of the actuator to another.

A throttle-less single-rod hydraulic cylinder positioning system: Design and experimental evaluation
Modern industrial tote dumpers and lifters are equipped with long-stroke single-rod hydraulic cylinders. For years, valve-controlled cylinders have been used in tote dumpers.

A Complete Analysis for Pump Controlled Single Rod Actuators
In the current study a variable speed pump controlled hydrostatic circuit where an underlapped shuttle valve is utilized to compensate the unequal flow rate of a single rod actuator is analyzed. Parameters of the shuttle valve are included in the system analysis, rather than treating it as an ideal switching element as handled in literature.
