How to control single-molecule rotation [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
The orientation of a molecule on a surface affects many processes, so the ability to control single-molecule rotation could be powerful. Here, the authors use the electric field from a scanning tunneling microscope tip to precisely induce unidirectional ...

The higher dimensional Myers–Perry black hole with single rotation always obeys the cosmic censorship conjecture

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2019
Even though the Myers–Perry five dimensional rotating black hole with two rotations could be overspun by test particle accretion, yet it turns out as we show in this letter that it cannot do so for a single rotation.

Determining the Net Present Value of Timber Investments and Comparing Investments of Different Rotations

open access: yesEDIS, 2019
Would a forest landowner be economically better off growing a forest for pulpwood production with a short rotation instead of growing the same forest for sawtimber production with a longer rotation? To help answer this and related questions, this 4-page

A novel rotation method with variable-angle anterior probe for correcting the depth of the kidney to optimize renal dynamic imaging

open access: yesEJNMMI Physics, 2022
Purpose We aimed to investigate the effect and significance of the rotation method with variable-angle anterior probe corrected for the depth of two kidneys on the determination of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in total and single kidneys by the renal

Microflow cytometer chip with multiple electro-rotation units for measuring electrical properties of single yeast cells

open access: yesBiosensors and Bioelectronics: X, 2023
At present, many single-cell electrical parameter measurement techniques have exhibit broad application prospects, but there are still some limitations such as complex single-cell operation and time-consuming measurement.

Optofluidic Single-Cell Rotation [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2014
The combination of optics and microfluidics is a very powerful and non invasive tool to perform single cell analysis and imaging. Being able to measure properties at a single cell level is of fundamental importance to understanding cellular systems and their heterogeneity.

Crop Rotation With Cress Increases Cucumber Yields by Regulating the Composition of the Rhizosphere Soil Microbial Community

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Paddy-upland rotation is an effective agricultural management practice for alleviating soil sickness. However, the effect of varying degrees of flooding on the soil microbial community and crop performance remains unclear.

On-chip generation and dynamic piezo-optomechanical rotation of single photons

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Hybrid quantum technologies synergistically combine different types of systems with complementary strengths. Here, the authors show monolithic integration and control of quantum dots and the emitted single photons in a surface acoustic wave-driven GaAs ...

Spontaneous Intersubunit Rotation in Single Ribosomes [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Cell, 2008
During the elongation cycle, tRNA and mRNA undergo coupled translocation through the ribosome catalyzed by elongation factor G (EF-G). Cryo-EM reconstructions of certain EF-G-containing complexes led to the proposal that the mechanism of translocation involves rotational movement between the two ribosomal subunits.
