Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

Spatial heterogeneity of hotspot mutations and clonal relatedness in ovarian endometrioid carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatially resolved analysis revealed heterogeneous distributions of selected cancer‐associated mutations within ovarian endometrioid carcinomas. Shared mutations between paired endometrial and ovarian tumors supported clonal relatedness. These findings highlight the value of sampling multiple tumor regions when interpreting molecular profiles ...

On the singular pebbling number of a graph

open access: yes, 2023
In this paper, we define a new parameter of a graph as a spin-off of the pebbling number (which is the smallest $t$ such that every supply of $t$ pebbles can satisfy every demand of one pebble). This new parameter is the singular pebbling number, the smallest $t$ such that a player can be given any configuration of at least $t$ pebbles and any target ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

The morpho-semantics of number in Brazilian Portuguese bare singulars

open access: yesJournal of Portuguese Linguistics, 2010
In this paper, I provide evidence against the idea that bare singulars in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) are morphologically singular but semantically number neuter.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Gender, number and person: a three-way interaction

open access: yesLinguistic Typology
According to the principle of informativity, more useful information is more likely to be coded than less useful information. This principle underlies Greenberg’s Universals 37 and 45, which state that a larger number of (sex-based) gender contrasts are ...
