From exact-WKB towards singular quantum perturbation theory

open access: yes, 2003
We use exact WKB analysis to derive some concrete formulae in singular quantum perturbation theory, for Schr\"odinger eigenvalue problems on the real line with polynomial potentials of the form $(q^M + g q^N)$, where $N>M>0$ even, and $g>0$.

An Adaptive Human Pilot Model With Reaction Time Delay for Enhanced Adaptive Control in Piloted Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces an adaptive human pilot model that captures pilot time‐delay effects in adaptive control systems. The model enables the prediction of pilot–controller interactions, facilitating safer integration and improved design of adaptive controllers for piloted applications.

Singular viscoelastic perturbation to soft lubrication

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Soft lubrication has been shown to drastically affect the mobility of an object immersed in a viscous fluid in the vicinity of a purely elastic wall. In this theoretical article, we develop a minimal model incorporating viscoelasticity, carrying out a ...

A Recent Development of Computer Methods for Solving Singularly Perturbed Boundary Value Problems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
This paper contains a surprisingly large amount of material and indeed can serve as an introduction to some of ideas and methods of singular perturbation theory.

Existence of Solitary Waves and Periodic Waves to a Perturbed Generalized KdV Equation

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2014
In this paper, the existence of solitary waves and periodic waves to a perturbed generalized KdV equation is established by applying the geometric singular perturbation theory and the regular perturbation analysis for a Hamiltonian system.

Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

A continuum of solutions for the SU(3) Toda System exhibiting partial blow-up

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we consider the so-called Toda System in planar domains under Dirichlet boundary condition. We show the existence of continua of solutions for which one component is blowing up at a certain number of points.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Analytical Expression for Low-dimensional Resonance Island in 4-dimensional Symplectic Map

open access: yes, 2005
We study a 2- and a 4-dimensional nearly integrable symplectic maps using a singular perturbation method. Resonance island structures in the 2- and 4- dimensional maps are successfully obtained.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...
