Asymptotics of integrodifferential models with integrable kernels II

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2003
Nonlinear singularly perturbed Volterra integrodifferential equations with weakly singular kernels are investigated using singular perturbation methods, the Mellin transform technique, and the theory of fractional integration.

AN INTRODUCTION TO SINGULAR PERTURBATIONS

open access: yesNatural Resource Modeling, 2000
ABSTRACT. In this article we discuss the asymptotic analysis of so‐called singularly perturbed differential equations. We begin by discussing some very simple nonmathematical examples, and then proceed to two mathematical examples, namely, the well‐known example of Friedrichs and a problem of John Mahony's.

Model Reduction of LPV Control with Bounded Parameter Variation Rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper proposes a reduced-order controller of linear parameter varying systems. The parameters are available for measurement while their ranges and rates of variation are assumed to be bounded.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1429-1452, June 2026.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Harmonic Maps to Buildings and Singular Perturbation Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The notion of a (uni)versal building associated with a point in the Hitchin base is introduced. The universal building is a building equipped with a harmonic map from the universal cover of the given Riemann surface that is initial among harmonic maps ...
