Polarization singularities in superposition of vector beams

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We present a systematic study of the superposition of two vector Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams. Propagation depended field distribution obtained from the superposition of two vector LG beams has many interesting features of intensity and polarization.

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

Targeting Observations Using Singular Vectors

open access: yesJournal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1999
Abstract Singular vectors with maximum energy at final time inside a verification area are used to identify the target area where extra observations should be taken, at an initial time, to reduce the forecast error inside the verification area itself.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Singular vectors and the predictability of weather and climate

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1994
Abstract The local instability properties of a chaotic system are determined by the singular vectors and singular values of the dynamical evolution operator, linearized about a finite trajectory portion of the integral curves of the nonlinear equations.

Singular vectors under random perturbation [PDF]

open access: yesRandom Structures & Algorithms, 2011
AbstractComputing the first few singular vectors of a large matrix is a problem that frequently comes up in statistics and numerical analysis. Given the presence of noise, an exact calculation is hard to achieve, and the following problem is of importance:How much does a small perturbation to the matrix change the singular vectors?Answering this ...

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printed Anthropomorphic Breast Phantom for Emulating Mechanical and Dielectric Properties of Mammary Tissue. Applications in Microwave Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable breast phantom is developed using patient‐derived MRI data and hydrogels that replicate the dielectric properties of healthy and cancerous tissues. Mechanical and dielectric characterization confirm its suitability for microwave imaging.
