Fatigue Behavior of Sintered Alumina

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Precision Engineering, 1968

The sintering behavior of ellipsoidal particles

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, 2022
Abstract The sintering behavior of ellipsoidally shaped particles, particularly spheroids, was studied using a numerical kinetic Monte Carlo model for solid‐state sintering. Compact packings of spheroids with five different aspect ratios from 0.5 to 2.0, thus comprising oblate, spherical, and prolate particles, were generated by ...

On the Fatigue Behavior of Sintered Iron

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1976
Completely reversed plane bending fatigue tests were carried out using sintered iron compacts made from five different iron powders. The fatigue specimens with sintered densities in the range of 6.2-7.0g/cm3 were prepared by single compacting and sintering at 1200°C for 1 hr in hydrogen.

Defect regulation and photodarkening suppression in Yb:Y2O3 laser ceramics through charge-compensated Zr–Ca co-doping strategy

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
Sesquioxide ceramics are promising candidates for high-power laser applications, yet achieving high optical quality remains challenging. This is primarily due to rapid grain-boundary mobility during the final stage of sintering and pump-induced ...

Evaluation of the Influence of MgO and La2O3 on the Fast Sintering of Mullite [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2015
The influence of MgO and La2O3 on the fast sintering of mullite was evaluated in this work. High-purity mullite was doped with MgO and La2O3, conventionally sintered, fast sintered, and microwave-sintered in rapid sintering cycles.

Sintering Behavior and Properties of Mo‐Cu Composites [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
A simple microwave‐assisted aqueous solution strategy combined with a subsequent low‐temperature hydrogen reduction process was used to prepare Mo‐Cu nanopowders. In order to systematically investigate the densification behavior and properties of Mo‐Cu composites, the densification, microstructure, hardness, electrical conductivity, thermal ...

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Swelling negation during sintering of sterling silver: An experimental and theoretical approach

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
One of the main challenges of the sintering of sterling silver is the phenomenon of swelling causing de-densification and a considerable reduction of the sintering kinetics.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...
