Automatic Mode Switching in Atrial Fibrillation [PDF]
Automatic mode switching (AMS) algorithms were designed to prevent tracking of atrial tachyarrhythmias (ATA) or other rapidly occurring signals sensed by atrial channels, thereby reducing the adverse hemodynamic and symptomatic consequences of a rapid ...

Irisin evokes bradycardia by activating cardiac-projecting neurons of nucleus ambiguus. [PDF]
Irisin is a newly identified hormone induced in muscle and adipose tissues by physical activity. This protein and its encoding gene have been identified in the brain; in addition, the precursor for irisin, FNDC5, can cross the blood-brain barrier.

First Report on Atrial Leadless Pacing in an Extra‐Cardiac Fontan Patient
Abstract No reports on atrial leadless pacing have been demonstrated in patients with the extra‐cardiac Fontan palliation. We present a case of a patient with an extra‐cardiac Fontan and an alternative to pacing for symptomatic bradycardia in the setting of sinus node dysfunction.

ABSTRACT Background Catheter ablation is an established therapy for atrial fibrillation (AF), with thermal ablation as a standard modality. Pulsed‐field ablation (PFA) is a nonthermal alternative that selectively ablates myocardium while sparing collateral tissue. Its comparative autonomic impact relative to thermal ablation remains unclear.

Influence of central venous pressure upon sinus node responses to arterial baroreflex stimulation in man [PDF]
Measurements were made of sinus node responses to arterial baroreceptor stimulation with phenylephrine injection or neck suction, before and during changes of central venous pressure provoked by lower body negative pressure or leg and lower truck ...

Learning signals of adverse drug-drug interactions from the unstructured text of electronic health records. [PDF]
Drug-drug interactions (DDI) account for 30% of all adverse drug reactions, which are the fourth leading cause of death in the US. Current methods for post marketing surveillance primarily use spontaneous reporting systems for learning DDI signals and ...

Pathogenesis of sudden death following water immersion (immersion syndrome) [PDF]
Sympathetic activity under cold stress is investigated. Predominantly vagal cardio-depressive reflexes are discussed besides currently known mechanisms of sudden death after water immersion. Pronounced circulatory centralization in diving animals as well
