Devices for Prevention of Atrial Tachyarrhythmias [PDF]
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequent sustained cardiac arrhythmia in clinical practice and, although its importance has been underestimated even in recent years, we are now becoming aware of its clinical transcendence1,2,3.

Sinus bradycardia associated with traumatic haemothorax
A 39-year-old male suffered a closed chest deceleration injury. He presented with clinical and radiological signs consistent with trauma to the thoracic aorta, but also developed sinus bradycardia which was relieved by drainage of a haemothorax. The possible mechanisms of the changes in heart rate are discussed and direct compression of the vagus nerve

Our study suggests bidirectional causal associations between hypothyroidism and both coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocardial infarction (MI). Moreover, hypothyroidism contributes to an increased risk of peripheral atherosclerosis (PAS). ABSTRACT Background Whether hypothyroidism and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are causally related remains ...

Refractory bradycardia – a rare complication of carboprost tromethamine for induction of abortion
We report a first case of refractory several-hour sinus bradycardia, a rare but already described side effect of intramuscular administration of carboprost tromethamine to induce abortion for medical indication in a patient without cardiovascular and ...

A perspective on automated rapid eye movement sleep assessment
Summary Rapid eye movement sleep is associated with distinct changes in various biomedical signals that can be easily captured during sleep, lending themselves to automated sleep staging using machine learning systems. Here, we provide a perspective on the critical characteristics of biomedical signals associated with rapid eye movement sleep and how ...

A curious alliance: Sinus nodal dysfunction precipitating atrioventricular block
An elderly woman presented with recurrent syncope. Sinus bradycardia and sinoatrial block were seen on the electrocardiogram; however, PR interval prolongation after sinus pauses suggested atrioventricular conduction system disease.

Efficacy and Safety of the Sync‐AV II Temporary Cardiac Pacing Catheter (EASY II Trial)
ABSTRACT Background Cardiac pacing is crucial for patients with hemodynamically unstable bradyarrhythmias. For most indications, transvenous pacemakers are used to pace the right ventricle, causing atrioventricular dyssynchrony, which may lead to significant hemodynamic compromise.
