Protective effects of kaempferol against cardiac sinus node dysfunction via CaMKII deoxidization

open access: yes, 2020
Kaempferol exerts cardioprotective actions through incompletely understood mechanisms. This study investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the cardioprotective effects of kaempferol in sinus node dysfunction (SND) heart. Here, we demonstrate that

Immune checkpoint inhibitor‐induced arrhythmias: Mechanistic insights from clinical and preclinical studies

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed cancer therapy, but their efficacy continues to be limited by immune‐related adverse events. Among these, ICI‐induced cardiac arrhythmias are increasingly recognised as a major adverse reaction, encompassing a broad spectrum of clinical phenotypes, including conduction blocks, atrial fibrillation and

Pacing for the Suppression of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation in an 87-year-old Patient

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2003
Background: Sinus node dysfunction, atrioventricular (AV) block and atrial fibrillation (AF) are associated with advanced age. Required therapy commonly includes pacemaker implantation. Methods: We report the course of therapy for an 87-year-old with

Prospective Trial on Tolerability and Efficacy of Adjuvant Nedaplatin Plus Docetaxel for Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
The flow of this trial and the treatment schedule of adjuvant chemotherapy with nedaplatin plus docetaxel for completely resected non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (A). The primary endpoint of this study was tolerability, assessed by the completion rate of the planned four chemotherapy cycles. As a result, it was 74.3%, exceeding that reported for the

Transient sinus node dysfunction in acute myocardial infarction associated with the use of a coronary stent.

open access: yes, 2000
We describe a patient with acute inferior wall myocardial infarction who developed sinus node dysfunction following thrombosis of the sinus node artery during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty and intracoronary stent implantation. Sinus node

Prediction of sinus node dysfunction in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and sinus pause

open access: yes, 2016
Background and Objectives: Sinus pause association of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAP) is generally considered a sinus node dysfunction (SND) known as tachycardia-bradycardia syndrome (TBS).

Response to equine cardiac adverse events during sports

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Cardiac adverse events and sudden death are a feared scenario for equine veterinarians, with serious consequences for animal health, riders' safety and the social licence to operate equestrian sports. The response to equine cardiac adverse events (CAEs) during sports is poorly defined.

Simulating cell apoptosis induced sinus node dysfunction.

open access: yes, 2013
Sinus node dysfunction (SND) is correlated to the pacemaker sinoatrial node (SAN) cell apoptosis. This study explores the effect of such a dysfunctional SAN on electrical propagation into neighboring atrial tissue.

Mitral regurgitation and decompensated heart failure in a young pregnant pony mare: An aetiological challenge

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary A 4‐year‐old, 6‐month pregnant, Welsh pony mare presented with severe acute clinical signs including depression, anorexia, pale mucous membranes, tachycardia with a grade 4/6 holosystolic murmur and moderate expiratory dyspnoea with diffuse wheezes. There was no evidence of placentitis or fetal distress.

Intima‐Media Thickness Progression Rate and Primary Unassisted Patency Failure in Arteriovenous Fistulas: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesHemodialysis International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Failure of autogenous arteriovenous fistulas (AV fistulas) due to venous neointimal hyperplasia is a major clinical challenge. Whether the rate of progression in venous intima‐media thickness predicts primary unassisted patency failure remains unknown.
