در این مقاله برای ساخت فیبرهای توخالی SiO2 از فیبرهای پنبه استفاده کردیم. به این صورت که سوسپانسیونی از پودر SiO2 و آب دیونیزه درست کرده و مقداری از پنبه را در این سوسپانسیون خیسانده و سپس خشک میکنیم.
