Nucleation Phenomenon in Silica Xerogels and Pd/SiO2, Ag/SiO2, Cu/SiO2 Cogelled Catalysts
Pd/SiO2, Ag/SiO2 and Cu/SiO2 xerogel catalysts have been synthesized by cogelation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and chelates of Pd, Ag and Cu with 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyltrimethoxysilane (EDAS). It appears that, in cogelled samples, the metal complex acts as a nucleation agent in the formation of silica particles.

Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.

Effect of the Si/SiO2 Interface on Diffusion in SiO2
Using 30Si-implanted 28SiO2 and natSiO2/28SiO2 structures, Si self-diffusion in SiO2 was studied as a function of temperature and SiO2 thickness (200−650 nm). Si self-diffusivity increased by about one order of magnitude with decreasing SiO2 thickness from 650 to 200 nm with a SiN layer, i.e., the shorter the distance between the 30Si diffusers and the

Fabrication of composites based on Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 and SiO2
The aim of the work described in this paper was to make a composite consisting of hydroxyapatite as bioactive matrix and SiO2 as bioinert component. Five different systems were formed where the content of SiO2 in the hydroxyapatite matrix were 10, 30, 50,

Ionic Precursors Transformed Into Vinyl Acetate Synthesis Catalyst via Reaction‐Driven Restructuring
This work demonstrates that a simple physical mixture of Pd and Au ionic precursors, KOAc promoter, and SiO2 support can transform into a highly active vinyl acetate synthesis catalyst through reaction‐driven restructuring. The results highlight reaction‐induced restructuring as an innovative and sustainable catalyst design strategy.
