Nucleation Phenomenon in Silica Xerogels and Pd/SiO2, Ag/SiO2, Cu/SiO2 Cogelled Catalysts

open access: yesJournal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2003
Pd/SiO2, Ag/SiO2 and Cu/SiO2 xerogel catalysts have been synthesized by cogelation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and chelates of Pd, Ag and Cu with 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyltrimethoxysilane (EDAS). It appears that, in cogelled samples, the metal complex acts as a nucleation agent in the formation of silica particles.

Identification of the major cause of endemically poor mobilities in SiC/SiO2 structures

open access: yes, 2010
Materials with good carrier mobilities are desired for device applications, but in real devices the mobilities are usually limited by the presence of interfaces and contacts.

The application of silicon dioxide as an electret material [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The authors have investigated silicon dioxide for its electret properties. It appears that thermally grown silicon dioxide has a large lateral surface conductivity, resulting in poor electret behavior.

Direct Observation of Site-specific Valence Electronic Structure at Interface: SiO2/Si Interface

open access: yes, 2005
Atom specific valence electronic structures at interface are elucidated successfully using soft x-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy. In order to demonstrate the versatility of this method, we investigated SiO2/Si interface as a prototype and ...

Preparation, Characterization, and Application of Nanospherical α-Fe2O3 Supported on Silica for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2019
In the research, spherical α-Fe2O3 NanoParticles (NPs) were synthesized through Forced Hydrolysis and Reflux Condensation (FHRC) process and were supported on the surface of silica sand by Solid-State Dispersion (SSD) method.
