OeBAS and CYP716C67 catalyze the biosynthesis of health‐beneficial triterpenoids in olive (Olea europaea) fruits

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 238, Issue 5, Page 2047-2063, June 2023., 2023
Summary The bioactive properties of olive (Olea europaea) fruits and olive oil are largely attributed to terpenoid compounds, including diverse triterpenoids such as oleanolic, maslinic and ursolic acids, erythrodiol, and uvaol. They have applications in the agri‐food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries.

The role of agroforestry in restoring Brazil's Atlantic Forest: Opportunities and challenges for smallholder farmers

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 462-480, April 2022., 2022
Abstract Restoring the degraded Atlantic Forest is one of the biggest conservation challenges in Brazil. In a biome with high human presence, understanding the potential for restoration approaches, such as agroforestry, to provide benefits to smallholder farmers and biodiversity is essential in developing equitable restoration strategies.

Timing and magnitude of climate‐driven range shifts in transboundary fish stocks challenge their management

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 2312-2326, April 2022., 2022
We use model projections to explore the timing and intensity in the distribution of marine fish stocks that are shared across the world's Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ). Our findings suggest that many shared stocks’ distribution and catch are expected to change in most EEZs by 2030.

Nurturing care indicators for the Brazilian Early Childhood Friendly Municipal Index (IMAPI)

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, Volume 18, Issue S2, March 2022., 2022
Abstract The Nurturing Care Framework (NCF) calls for establishing a global monitoring and accountability systems for early childhood development (ECD). Major gaps to build low‐cost and large‐scale ECD monitoring systems at the local level remain. In this manuscript, we describe the process of selecting nurturing care indicators at the municipal level ...

The FveFT2 florigen/FveTFL1 antiflorigen balance is critical for the control of seasonal flowering in strawberry while FveFT3 modulates axillary meristem fate and yield

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 232, Issue 1, Page 372-387, October 2021., 2021
Summary Plant architecture is central in determining crop yield. In the short‐day species strawberry, a crop vegetatively propagated by daughter‐plants produced by stolons, fruit yield is further dependent on the trade‐off between sexual reproduction (fruits) and asexual reproduction (daughter‐plants).

Fisheries management influences phytoplankton biomass of Amazonian floodplain lakes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 58, Issue 4, Page 731-743, April 2021., 2021
Tropical freshwaters fisheries typically assume that fish biomass is controlled by bottom‐up mechanisms, so that overexploitation of large predators would not affect overall ecosystem productivity. Our results, however, show that top‐down forces are important drivers of primary productivity in tropical lakes, above and beyond the effects of bottom‐up ...

Clinical signs and diagnosis of feline atopic syndrome: detailed guidelines for a correct diagnosis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 26-e6, February 2021., 2021
