Simulation‐based site amplification model for shallow bedrock sites in Korea
Earthquake Spectra, 2021A new simulation‐based site amplification model for shallow sites with thickness less than 30 m in Korea is developed. The site amplification model consists of linear and nonlinear components that are developed from one‐dimensional linear and nonlinear site response analyses. A suite of measured shear wave velocity profiles is used

Characterization of Site Amplification by a Parametric Study [PDF]
The reliability of Vs30 and the performance of alternative time averaged shear wave velocities (Vsz) and shear wave travel times (Ttz) at various depths, z, were investigated for the estimation of site amplification and fundamental frequency (f 0) characterization by considering the linear and nonlinear soil behavior.

Interpretation of Seismic Vertical Amplification Observed at an Array Site [PDF]
Strong ground motions were recorded at Port Island, Kobe, by a borehole array during the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu (Kobe) earthquake. These records indicate that, while the horizontal peak accelerations were reduced as seismic waves traveling from the bottom to the surface, motions in the vertical direction were significantly amplified at the surface, with ...

Site Response Study and Amplification Factor for Shallow Bedrock Sites [PDF]
Amplification is a key paramter considered to account modifcation of seimic wave in the soil for earthquake resistance design of structure placed on soil. Initially, earthquake wave amplifications are related with shear wave velocity (Vs) ratio of soil and foundation layer, and then it was related to average value of Vs up to 30 m (Vs30 ).

Characterization of a Reclaimed Site and Its Seismic Vertical Amplification [PDF]
In this paper an analysis is presented for the field observation of large amplification in vertical motion at a reclaimed site subjected to the 1995 Kobe earthquake. The observation is considered to be associated with the amplification of P-waves caused by incomplete saturation of shallow soils.
