Analysis of DNA Methylation by Amplification of Intermethylated Sites (AIMS)
2009DNA methylation is an epigenetic modification that plays a crucial role in the control of gene expression and chromosome structure in plants and mammalian cells. Multiple types of DNA fingerprinting techniques have been developed and applied to investigate DNA methylation profiles in different experimental settings.

Site amplification in lava rock on soft sediments
Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2002Seismicity and volcanic activity in Iceland are related to the Mid-Atlantic plate boundary that crosses the island. Due to volcanic activity, different sea levels through the ages and glacial drift, the geology in Iceland is quite complex at many sites. In June 2000, two major earthquakes of magnitude 6.6 (Mw) and 6.5 (Mw) occurred in southern Iceland.

Spatial response spectra and site amplification effects
Engineering Structures, 2002A simplified analysis of local site amplification effects on the seismic response of multi-support structures is presented. The site effects are modeled by considering reflections and transmission of vertically propagating shear waves from bedrock to the surface through a soil layer.

Site amplification in the Lijiang Valley, Yunnan Province
Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1999The site amplifications for three stations, Libin (LIBI), Baisha (BASH) and Yulong (YULG) situated respectively in the southern, middle and northern parts of Lijiang Valley, are obtained by analyzing the S-wave soil/bedrock and microtremor horizontal/vertical spectral ratios.

Discrete-Time Analysis of Seismic Site Amplification
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1995A discrete-time analysis of seismic site amplification in layered media for vertically propagating shear waves is presented. The discrete-time approach not only is simpler and more accurate than the previously suggested frequency-domain techniques but also provides better physical insight into the problem.

Numerical simulation of seismic site amplification effects
2013The concept of substructure deletion proposed for the analysis of a rigid embedded foundation was adapted for the analysis of site amplification effects in alluvial valleys. A major modification was made for the present application such that the boundary integration equation method was used for both the finite size interior problem and semi-infinite ...

Influence of Water Saturation on Seismic Site Amplification
2006This paper presents a study of the seismic amplification of a soil layer overlying rock formations due to obliquely incident SV waves. Both the soil and bedrock are modeled as a partially saturated porous medium that is characterized by its degree of saturation, porosity, permeability, and compressibility.

Empirical estimates of Site Amplification Factors in Italy
In the framework of an Italian research project (2022-25 PRIN SERENA “Mapping Seismic Site Effects at Regional and National Scale”, granted by the Italian Ministry of University and Research), we aimed at the empirical verification and calibration of the numerical ground-motion amplification maps developed within the project, using ...Salomon Hailemikael +8 more

Preliminary assessment of site stratigraphic amplification for Shakemap processing.
2011ShakeMap® is the most widespread software generating maps showing spatial distributions of several ground motion parameters. Non-linear relationships describing the amplification induced by site effects are fundamental ingredients to obtain reliable maps for emergency issues.
