The effect of subsampling sites within patients

Journal of Periodontal Research, 1985
In recent periodontal research, multiple sites within patients have been utilized as the primary observations or sampling units. In the present study a simple approach for the single sample case was used to demonstrate the effect of site‐specific analyses when the patient is not treated as the sampling unit. This approach was shown to underestimate the

Site response effects for structures located on sand sites

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1990
Results are presented for 4 sand sites forming part of a site response study of 11 soil sites. The results are in the form of spectral accelerations and ratios, base shear coefficients, and foundation factors. They indicate that significant amplifications can be expected at sand sites, especially for low-intensity excitation. Comparisons are made with

Targeting the Effect Site

2000
The availability of commercial devices (Diprifusor™) that provide computerised control of the plasma concentrations of propofol has focused attention on Target Controlled Infusion (TCI) techniques in anaesthesia. TCI devices can rapidly achieve and maintain any desired target concentration of a drug, and allow the target concentration to be changed ...

Site effect and site classification in areas with large earthquakes

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2019
Abstract This work presents an alternative methodology to establish seismic site classification. Also, the use of the new spectral parameters, named Spectral Threshold Displacement (STD) and Spectral Threshold Acceleration (STA), allow identifying the relevance of the displacement spectrum with the structural damage, which is also related to both the

Inter‐Site Distance Effect in Electrocatalysis

Angewandte Chemie
AbstractThe inter‐site distance effect (ISDE) has gained significant attention in heterogeneous catalysis, challenging classical models that treat adjacent nonbonded sites as isolated. Recent studies demonstrate that these sites can exhibit long‐range cooperative interactions, enhancing reaction efficiencies.

On the Effectiveness of Techniques to Detect Phishing Sites

2007
Phishing is an electronic online identity theft in which the attackers use a combination of social engineering and web site spoofing techniques to trick a user into revealing confidential information. This information is typically used to make an illegal economic profit (e.g., by online banking transactions, purchase of goods using stolen credentials ...
