Influence of Different Sites on Impact Response of Steel-Plate Concrete Containment against a Large Commercial Aircraft

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This paper aimed at evaluating the influence of different site conditions on the impact response of the structure of nuclear power plants (NPPs) against a large commercial aircraft.

Analysis of Diablo Canyon site response spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, located on the central California coast, is nearing completion. Recent geologic and seismological investigations have indicated that the nearby Hosgri fault may be part of a major fault system. If so, the original Design Basis Earthquake (DBE) may be inadequate for Diablo Canyon.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Comparison of Seismic Site Factor Models Based on Equivalent Linear and Nonlinear Analyses and Correction Factors for Updating Equivalent Linear Results for Charleston, South Carolina

open access: yesGeosciences
In practice, site-specific one-dimensional (1D) seismic site response analyses are conducted to compute surface acceleration time histories considering shear wave velocity profile, modulus reduction, damping, and site-specific ground motions.

Factors affecting site response analysis

open access: yes, 2020

Site Response Analysis by Generating a New 3-d Mesh Design With Surface Topography: a 3-d Site Response Analysis of Northwest Turkey

open access: yesBulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2023
Abstract Predicting soil behavior under dynamic load due to earthquakes is pivotal for engineering structures and human life. Due to various limitations, such as insufficient computers and difficulties in generating models, the third dimension effect is generally neglected in many studies.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Evaluation of Seismic Site Amplification Using 1D Site Response Analyses at Ba Dinh Square Area, Vietnam

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
This study presents a case study on ground response analysis of one of the important cultural heritages in Hanoi, Vietnam. One-dimensional nonlinear and equivalent linear site response analyses which are commonly applied to solve the problem of seismic ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Detection of directivity in seismic site response from microtremor spectral analysis [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2008
Recent observations have shown that slope response to seismic shaking can be characterised by directional variations of a factor of 2–3 or larger, with maxima oriented along local topography features (e.g. maximum slope direction).
