Electroreduction of CO2 on Single-Site Copper-Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Material: Selective Formation of Ethanol and Reversible Restructuration of the Metal Sites.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2019
It is generally believed that CO2 electroreduction to multi-carbon products such as ethanol or ethylene may be catalyzed with significant yield only on metallic copper surfaces, implying large ensembles of copper atoms.

Explorers [4th grade] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Students will understand that people explore and settle or different purposes including riches, land, and the spread of religion. Students will also know the history or background of explorers and how that defines the cultures of Texas.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Tangihanga: The ultimate form of Māori cultural expression - overview of a research programme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Death, observed through the process of tangihanga (time set aside to grieve and mourn, rites for the dead) or tangi (to grieve and mourn), is the ultimate form of Māori cultural expression.

Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Problems with the census conception of ethnic group: an anthropological perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
From the perspective of social anthropology, this paper examines the collection and analysis of census data on ethnic group membership. It identifies a fundamental problem lying in the census's attempt to enumerate a subjective identity.

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Estimating treatment-effect heterogeneity across sites, in multi-site randomized experiments with few units per site [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In multi-site randomized trials with many sites and few randomization units per site, an Empirical-Bayes estimator can be used to estimate the variance of the treatment effect across sites. When this estimator indicates that treatment effects do vary, we propose estimators of the coefficients from regressions of site-level effects on site-level ...

The 3'-terminal sequence of Escherichia coli 16S ribosomal RNA: complementarity to nonsense triplets and ribosome binding sites.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1974
With a stepwise degradation and terminal labeling procedure the 3'-terminal sequence of E. coli 16S ribosomal RNA is shown to be Pyd-A-C-C-U-C-C-U-U-A(OH). It is suggested that this region of the RNA is able to interact with mRNA and that the 3'-terminal
