Adverbial Modification in Situation Semantics
1985This chapter is concerned to see what a theory of adverbs might look like in the ‘situation semantics’ developed by Jon Barwise and John Perry. I shall base my discussion on the account developed in their book Situations and Attitudes [3], and, unless otherwise indicated, any reference to situation semantics will be from that work. Further developments

Analyzing V+Adj in Situation Semantics
Conference on Intelligent Text Processing and Computational Linguistics, 2003Sentences with V+Adj format (VA-statements) have the same syntax structure, whereas their semantic structures are always different owing to the semantic pointer of the adjective of V+Adj. In this paper we separate the verb and the adjective and start from the semantics of a VA-statement.

R. Suszko's situational semantics
Studia Logica, 1984The paper consists of two loosely connected parts, both rather makeshift. The first one presents Suszko's ''sentential calculus with identity'' (SCI), the core of his idea of a ''non-Fregean'' logic. With A, B as arbitrary sentences and C(..) an arbitrary sentential context, the identity connective is characterized by the axioms: (1) \(A=A\); (2) \(A=B\

Situation semantics for things
Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia, 2011This paper proposes the idea of providing artifacts with specifications of their situation transforming behaviour. Such specifications can be created by designers (and so would come together with the artifact on purchase) or end-users to implement smart things that transform their environment in meaningful ways.

Situation semantics attempts to provide systematic and philosophically coherent accounts of the meanings of various constructions that philosophers and linguists find important. It is based on the old idea that sentences stand for facts or something like them.

The semantic challenge for situation assessments
2005 7th International Conference on Information Fusion, 2005In relation to situation assessments in a deconstructed JDL model, one confronts the question, "What symbols should be used and how do those symbols acquire meaning?"-previously termed "the semantic challenge" for information fusion. The paper shows how meaning can be assigned to symbols by formal theories with logics because they constrain the number ...
