Strain Effects in a Directly Bonded Diamond‐on‐Insulator Substrate

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 3, 6 February 2026.
Strain effects in a directly bonded diamond‐on‐insulator substrate are investigated using NV‐based optically detected magnetic resonance and photoluminescence mapping. Enhanced volumetric and shear strain is observed near the bonded interface, but without significant degradation of NV optical properties.

Chronic Granulomatous Disease: Clinical and Molecular Characterization of Brazilian Patients

open access: yesThe Journal of Gene Medicine, Volume 28, Issue 2, February 2026.
Chronic granulomatous disease is a rare inborn error of immunity characterized by the deficient production of reactive oxygen species in phagocytes, which are used in pathogen elimination. Affected individuals become susceptible to severe infections.

Changes in seasonal influenza vaccination uptake among older adults during and after the COVID-19 pandemic: Repeated random telephone surveys

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics
People’s risk of contracting seasonal influenza increased after COVID-19 control measures were relaxed. This study investigated the changes in seasonal influenza vaccination (SIV) uptake and its determinants among older adults during and after the COVID ...

Conditional Versus Unconditional Covariate Effects in Pharmacometric Models: Implications for Interpretation, Communication, and Reporting

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This work investigates how correlations between covariates influence the estimation of their effects in pharmacometric models. The focus is on quantifying the impact on conditional and unconditional covariate effect estimates and assessing the consequences for model interpretation, communication, and dosing recommendations.

AFB1 exposure promotes SIV replication and lung damage via RIG-I- and p38-mediated RETREG1/FAM134B-dependent endoplasmic reticulum autophagy

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) contamination is common worldwide and highly harmful to humans and animals. Our previous studies suggested that AFB1 exposure promotes the replication of H1N1 swine influenza virus (SIV). However, its mechanism is not clear.

Increased cellular immune responses and CD4+ T-cell proliferation correlate with reduced plasma viral load in SIV challenged recombinant simian varicella virus - simian immunodeficiency virus (rSVV-SIV) vaccinated rhesus macaques

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2012
Background An effective AIDS vaccine remains one of the highest priorities in HIV-research. Our recent study showed that vaccination of rhesus macaques with recombinant simian varicella virus (rSVV) vector – simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) envelope ...

Asymmetric Influence: Politicians Can Fuel but Not Dampen Conflict

open access: yesScandinavian Political Studies, Volume 49, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Research from the deeply polarized United States suggests that the impact of elite communication is asymmetrical: antagonistic messages often heighten divisions, while positive appeals fail to dampen them. In this study, we examine the extent of these dynamics in one of the least polarized democracies: Norway.

TRIMming SIV Transmission between Species

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2010
HumanHuman immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS, did not originate in humans. Instead, the most common variant, HIV1, is thought to have originated as a simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) in apes and to have jumped the species barrier from apes to humans sometime in the first half of the 20th century. Similarly, HIV2—a related but
