An inactivated whole simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) immunogen given to healthy, seropositive rhesus macaques 4 months after infection had no effect on the humoral immune response to SIV, the presence of antigenemia, cell‐associated viremia, or disease course.

Rubella/SIV vectors for immunotherapy of SIV infection in rhesus macaques
The Journal of Immunology, 2017Abstract Currently available anti-retroviral therapy (ART) can fully suppress viremia after SIV infection in macaques, but the drugs do not cure infection. When ART drugs are withdrawn, the virus rebounds vigorously. Apparently, ART cannot control or eliminate viral reservoirs.

Pathogenesis of SIV encephalitis. Selection and replication of neurovirulent SIV.
The American journal of pathology, 1997To investigate the viral and host factors that contribute to neurological disease, nine macaques were intravenously co-inoculated with SIV/DeltaB670, a primary isolate of SIV consisting of at least 21 different genotypes, and SIV/17E-Fr, a neurovirulent recombinant clone. CD4+ cell counts and antigenemia were measured throughout infection.

Cross-Validation of the Gordon Siv
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1968Peer- and self-ratings, and Gordon SIV test scores were obtained from 41 males living in a college dormitory. 5 of 6 validity coefficients between self-ratings and the SIV scores were significantly different from zero, the r for Independence being the exception.

Th17 cells in natural SIV hosts
Current Opinion in HIV and AIDS, 2010To summarize our current understanding of the regulation of Th17 cells in pathogenic and nonpathogenic lentiviral infections. It has been shown that Th17 cells, a recently identified T helper-cell subset deemed critical for antimicrobial mucosal immunity, are preferentially depleted in the gastrointestinal tracts of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV ...

HIV-1 and HIV-2 both cause AIDS in humans, and both originated in nonhuman primates in Africa before several cross-species transmission events introduced them into humans. Of more than seven such events, only one, creating the HIV-1 M group of viruses, resulted in the AIDS pandemic.

Schlieren Image Velocimetry (SIV)
2018Particle image velocimetry (PIV) is a quantitative optical method used in experimental fluid dynamics that captures entire 2D/3D velocity field by measuring the displacements of numerous small particles that follow the motion of the fluid. In its simplest form, PIV acquires two consecutive images (with a very small time delay) of flow field seeded by ...
