Research Paper: A Numerical Generation of Gaussian and Non-Gaussian Isotropic/Anisotropic Rough Surfaces [PDF]
In the present study, the computer simulation has been used to generate the (1+1) and (2+1) surfaces with two types of correlation function Gaussian and correlation function Exponential forms.

Some Statistical Aspects of the Truncated Multivariate Skew-t Distribution
The multivariate skew-t distribution plays an important role in statistics since it combines skewness with heavy tails, a very common feature in real-world data.

Mean-Variance Optimization Is a Good Choice, But for Other Reasons than You Might Think
Mean-variance portfolio optimization is more popular than optimization procedures that employ downside risk measures such as the semivariance, despite the latter being more in line with the preferences of a rational investor.

Parametric or Non-parametric: Skewness to Test Normality for Mean Comparison
Checking the normality assumption is necessary to decide whether a parametric or non-parametric test needs to be used. Different ways are suggested in literature to use for checking normality. Skewness and kurtosis values are one of them.

ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

On IoT-Friendly Skewness Monitoring for Skewness-Aware Online Edge Learning
Machine learning techniques generally require or assume balanced datasets. Skewed data can make machine learning systems never function properly, no matter how carefully the parameter tuning is conducted.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Skewness in energy returns: estimation, testing and implications for tail risk
In this paper we estimate the skewness of the unconditional distribution of energy returns and test its statistical significance. We compare the performance of traditional and robust tests for skewness with those based on the implied unconditional ...
