Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Frequency distribution and genetic variability for forage yield attributing traits in oats (Avena sativa L.)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2022
An experiment was conducted with 125 germplasm accessions and five check varieties of Oat (Avena sativa L.) in augmented design during rabi, 2019-20. Nineteen quantitative traits were studied for the assessment of genetic variability.

Skew monoidal categories and skew multicategories [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2018
We describe a perfect correspondence between skew monoidal categories and certain generalised multicategories, called skew multicategories, that arise in nature.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Skew Randić Matrix and Skew Randić Energy

open access: yesTransactions on Combinatorics, 2014
Let $G$ be a simple graph with an orientation $σ$, which assigns to each edge a direction so that $G^σ$ becomes a directed graph. $G$ is said to be the underlying graph of the directed graph $G^σ$. In this paper, we define a weighted skew adjacency matrix with Randć weight, the skew Randić matrix ${\bf R_S}(G^σ)$, of $G^σ$ as the real skew symmetric ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

On skew-symmetric games

open access: yesJournal of the Franklin Institute, 2018
By resorting to the vector space structure of finite games, skew-symmetric games (SSGs) are proposed and investigated as a natural subspace of finite games. First of all, for two player games, it is shown that the skew-symmetric games form an orthogonal complement of the symmetric games.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Weighted Ranked Set Sampling for Skewed Distributions

open access: yesMathematics
Ranked set sampling (RSS) is a useful technique for improving the estimator of a population mean when the sampling units in a study can be more easily ranked than the actual measurement. RSS performs better than simple random sampling (SRS) when the mean
