Absorption of lead through the skin

Toxicology, 1976
Absorption of lead through the skin was studied by comparing the effect produced by lead naphthenate or lead acetate solution, when coated on the skin of rats, with data obtained from subcutaneous injections of these solutions. Body weight and liver size and weight decreased in the case of rats receiving the subcutaneous dose. delta-Aminolevulinic acid

[Skin absorption promotors].

Annales pharmaceutiques francaises, 1993
Transdermal penetration of drugs is currently much studied because it presents several attractive aspects, avoiding first past effects and offering means of immediate breaking of the therapeutic in case of hitch. But it must overcome the very efficient hindrance of the epidermal barrier.

Glyphosate Skin Binding, Absorption, Residual Tissue Distribution, and Skin Decontamination

Toxicological Sciences, 1991
Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum postemergence translocated herbicide. Its interactions with skin and potential systemic availability through percutaneous absorption was studied by skin binding, skin absorption, residual tissue distribution, and skin decontamination.

Skin absorption enhancers.

Critical reviews in therapeutic drug carrier systems, 1993
When we try to maximize drug flux through the skin, we usually meet major difficulties because of the impervious nature of the stratum corneum. A popular solution incorporates penetration enhancers into transdermal products. Such materials ideally possess the sole property of reversibly reducing the barrier resistance of the horny layer, allowing the ...

Fatal paraquat poisonings after skin absorption

Medical Journal of Australia, 1982
This paper reports five cases of fatal paraquat poisoning after skin absorption in adult Papua New Guinea men. Three incidents followed occupational accidents, one victim used paraquat concentrate to treat a scabies infestation, and one used it to treat head lice. All had marked blistering and excoriation, and all died from respiratory failure.

Models for Skin Absorption and Skin Toxicity Testing

2007
This chapter includes information about models for skin absorption testing and skin toxicity testing in a condensed form. At first, the structure and function of human skin is described discussing the contribution of the different skin layers and skin appendages to skin absorption. Moreover, various skin absorption pathways are discussed.

Skin barrier function for regulatory skin absorption tests and effects on testosterone and sucrose absorption

Toxicology in Vitro
In vitro absorption through human skin is a critical component in the safety assessment of chemicals, crop protection products, consumer healthcare products and cosmetics. A barrier integrity assay is used to identify skin samples which are potentially damaged.

Basic Mathematics in Skin Absorption

2017
Frequently, analysis of skin absorption does not only require the careful evaluation of experimental data but also the fundamental understanding of underlying physics to apply the appropriate mathematical concepts to attain insight into transport kinetics. This chapter will introduce the basic mathematics which are necessary to evaluate skin permeation
