Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

A Case Report of JAK Inhibitors Therapy for Adult-Onset Still’s Disease with Persistent Pruritic Lesions

open access: yesDrugs in R&D
Background and Objective Adult-onset Still’s disease (AOSD) is a recognized autoinflammatory disorder of unknown etiology. The standard initial management for AOSD includes conventional corticosteroids and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs.

Crohn’s disease and skin [PDF]

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, 2016
Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease potentially involving any segment of the gastrointestinal tract. Extra‐intestinal manifestations may occur in 6%–40% of patients, and disorders of the skin are among the most common. This manuscript will review skin manifestations associated to Crohn’s disease, with a particular focus on lesions ...

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

Occupational Skin Disease [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1989
It is opportune to discuss occupational skin disorders since recently a 'Save your Skin' Campaign has been undertaken in the United Kingdom by the Employment Advisory Service of the Health and Safety Executive to increase the awareness of employers and employees of the need to prevent skin problems in industry.' This was justified because skin ...

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Gasdermin E promotes translocation of p65 and c-jun into nucleus in keratinocytes for progression of psoriatic skin inflammation

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Gasdermin E (GSDME) has recently been identified as a critical executioner to mediate pyroptosis. While epidermal keratinocytes can initiate GSDME-mediated pyroptosis, the role of keratinocyte GSDME in psoriatic dermatitis remains poorly characterized ...
