A study of the effects of Lebu devices on turbulent boundary layer drag [PDF]
Initial measurements of the changes in local skin friction, velocity profile shape, and turbulence structure which result from the placement of tandem plates parallel to the wall in the outer region of thick turbulent boundary layers were made.

Closed-loop separation control over a sharp edge ramp using Genetic Programming [PDF]
We experimentally perform open and closed-loop control of a separating turbulent boundary layer downstream from a sharp edge ramp. The turbulent boundary layer just above the separation point has a Reynolds number $Re_{\theta}\approx 3\,500$ based on ...

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

Correlation of Preston-tube data with laminar skin friction (Log No. J12984) [PDF]
Preston tube data within laminar boundary layers obtained on a sharp ten-degree cone in the NASA Ames eleven-foot transonic wind tunnel are correlated with the corresponding values of theoretical skin friction. Data were obtained over a Mach number range

Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

The determination of the topological structure of skin friction lines on a rectangular wing-body combination [PDF]
A short tutorial in the application of topological ideas to the intepretation of oil flow patterns is presented. Topological concepts such as critical points, phase portraits, topological stability, and indexing are discussed.
