Increased Anti‐Psoriatic Effect of Anti‐Inflammatory Dendrimers Using Fluid Catanionic Vesicle‐Based Topical Formulations

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Next‐Generation Psoriasis Therapy – With advanced dendrimer‐based formulations, this study paves the way for highly effective, skin‐permeable treatments. Encapsulated in fluid catanionic vesicles, IMD‐006 and its analogues show promising anti‐psoriatic effects offering a targeted, non‐invasive approach to managing chronic skin inflammation.

Permeation Enhancers for Enhanced Topical Delivery of Pharmaceutical and Cosmeceutical Products

open access: yesJournal of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery
Background: Topical cosmetic and therapeutic agents are often limited in their effectiveness due to the skin barrier, which hinders the permeation of active ingredients.

Permeation Pathway of Macromolecules and Nanospheres through Skin

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2010
The permeation pathway of macromolecules and nanospheres through skin was evaluated using fluorescent isothiocyanate (FITC)-dextran (average MW, 4 kDa) (FD-4) and nanospheres (500 nm in diameter) in hairless rat abdominal skin and porcine ear skin as well as a three-dimensional cultured human skin model (cultured skin model).

Effective Penetration of the Oxidized Keratin‐Rebonding Materials Into Hair Shafts Based on Charge Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed a smart hair‐repair ingredient based on β‐carboxylic acid amide that undergoes negative‐to‐positive charge conversion under mildly acidic conditions. The initial negative charge facilitates deep penetration into the hair fiber, while the subsequent positive charge enables re‐bonding with sulfonate groups in damaged hair keratin.

A Hierarchically Structured, Stretchable, Anti‐Biofouling Encapsulation for Biodegradable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, stretchable, anti‐biofouling encapsulant is developed by integrating organosilicon nanowire networks with microstructured biodegradable elastomers. The hierarchical surface exhibits superhydrophobicity and enhances water barrier properties by 420% over pristine polymers, while preserving mechanical integrity.

Covalently bonded interfaces for polymer/graphene composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The interface is well known for taking a critical role in the determination of the functional and mechanical properties of polymer composites. Previous interface research has focused on utilising reduced graphene oxide that is limited by a low structural

Living Materials Approach for In Situ Bio‐Polymers Production Using Bacillus Paralicheniformis in Microneedles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dissolvable microneedle (MN) device containing Bacillus paralicheniformis. The polymeric matrix encapsulates and protects the bacteria, preserving their viability while enabling in situ production and release of γ‐polyglutamic acid. The bacteria are delivered into the skin via 500 µm‐long microneedles, and remain detectable on the skin 24 h post ...

In vivo confocal Raman spectroscopy and molecular dynamics analysis of penetration of retinyl acetate into stratum corneum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective The purpose of this study is to elucidate the behavior of retinyl acetate in penetrating human skin without the presence of enhancers by using confocal Raman spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation.

Improved skin permeation of methotrexate via nanosized ultradeformable liposomes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nanomedicine, 2016
The aim of this study is to investigate methotrexate-entrapped ultradeformable liposomes (MTX-UDLs) for potential transdermal application. MTX-UDLs were prepared by extrusion method with phosphatidylcholine as a bilayer matrix and sodium cholate or Tween
