The skin prick test

open access: yes, 2018
The skin prick test (SPT) is the most common test for the diagnosis of allergy. SPT is performed by pricking the skin, usually in the volar surface of the forearm, with a lancet through a drop of an allergen extract and is usually the first choice test ...

Anaphylaxis following prick‐by‐prick testing with peanut

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
Anaphylaxis due to prick‐by‐prick testing is a rare but potentially life‐threatening complication. Personnel performing testing should be able to recognize and treat anaphylaxis. Adrenaline must be available.

Assessment of drug hypersensitivity with non-irritating concentrations of antibacterial agents for allergic skin tests: a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Hypersensitivity reactions to antibiotics are common with a prevalence of 6-10% of all adverse reactions. There is a lack of guidelines and standardization of skin tests for the screening of hypersensitivity to all antibiotics, in terms of the ...

Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...

Agreement Rate of Skin Prick Test with Tissue Eosinophil Count in Patients with Nasal Polyps

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2007
The pathogenetic mechanism of nasal polyps remains unknown, although allergy has been cited as an important factor in the etiology of nasal polyposis. Currently there is no definite histological criterion for differentiation of allergic from inflammatory

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Metal–Organic Framework‐Preserved Thermostable Microneedle Patch for Minimally Invasive Detection and Monitoring of Kidney Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By growing a conformal ZIF‐8 protective layer directly on antibody‐functionalized microneedles, this work converts a fragile biosensing interface into a thermostable diagnostic platform. The MOF@MN patch enables minimally invasive NGAL detection from dermal ISF while supporting cold‐chain‐independent storage and transport for decentralized kidney ...

Liquid Crystal Elastomer‐Based Haptic Pixel Arrays at Your Fingertips for Advanced Human–Machine Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We mechanically program liquid crystal elastomer coatings as a stimuli‐responsive and digitally addressable platform for refreshable tactile displays; we validate the perceptual performance of our dynamic device matches conventional static tactile media.

Use of the skin prick test in dogs with cutaneous adverse food reactions

open access: yes, 2021

Spatial Control of Light‐Responsive Proteins and Optogenetics Within Hydrogels via Volumetric Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal control over cell behavior within bioprinted constructs remains a key challenge in biofabrication. Volumetric bioprinting using multi‐wavelength light sources permits to activate light‐sensitive intracellular proteins as well as optogenetic gene and protein expression circuits in bioprinted cells, in addition to enabling fast printing of
