Measurement and interpretation of skin prick test results

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, 2016
BackgroundThere are several methods to read skin prick test results in type-I allergy testing. A commonly used method is to characterize the wheal size by its ‘average diameter’.

Angiotensin Skin Tests [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1962
The studies reported above indicate that the angiotensin skin test (A.S.T.) is a simple practical measure which has proved of value in differentiating between normotensive and hypertensive individuals. The duration of the blanching of skin by the test differs significantly in normotensives as compared with hypertensives. The test has served as an index

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Immediate-type hypersensitivity to pyridoxal 5'- phosphate: Study of in vivo and in vitro cross-reactivity and identification of the antigenic determinant

open access: yesAllergology International, 2001
Background: A case in which a 45-year-old female patient with peritonitis experienced immediate-type hypersensitivity on two occasions after administration of preparations containing six different medications was referred to us for closer inspection ...

Skin Lesions Classification Into Eight Classes for ISIC 2019 Using Deep Convolutional Neural Network and Transfer Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Melanoma is a type of skin cancer with a high mortality rate. The different types of skin lesions result in an inaccurate diagnosis due to their high similarity.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Usefulness of the rK39-immunochromatographic test, direct agglutination test, and leishmanin skin test for detecting asymptomatic Leishmania infection in children in a new visceral leishmaniasis focus in Amhara State, Ethiopia.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2012
In areas where visceral leishmaniasis is anthroponotic, asymptomatically infected patients may play a role in transmission. Additionally, the number of asymptomatic patients in a disease-endemic area will also provide information on transmission dynamics.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.
