I/O-Efficient Dynamic Planar Range Skyline Queries [PDF]
We present the first fully dynamic worst case I/O-efficient data structures that support planar orthogonal \textit{3-sided range skyline reporting queries} in $\bigO (\log_{2B^\epsilon} n + \frac{t}{B^{1-\epsilon}})$ I/Os and updates in $\bigO (\log_{2B^\

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Balloon logging with the inverted skyline [PDF]
There is a gap in aerial logging techniques that has to be filled. The need for a simple, safe, sizeable system has to be developed before aerial logging will become effective and accepted in the logging industry.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

The multifurcating skyline plot [PDF]
Abstract A variety of methods based on coalescent theory have been developed to infer demographic history from gene sequences sampled from natural populations. The ‘skyline plot’ and related approaches are commonly employed as flexible prior distributions for phylogenetic trees in the Bayesian analysis of pathogen gene sequences.

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Feedback-Driven Pattern Matching in Time Series Data
While motif discovery methods have come a long way over the years, they generally match occurrences based on the similar shape of the whole subsequence.

A Skyline-Based Decision Boundary Estimation Method for Binominal Classification in Big Data
One of the most common tasks nowadays in big data environments is the need to classify large amounts of data. There are numerous classification models designed to perform best in different environments and datasets, each with its advantages and ...

Molecular cancer prevention: Intercepting disease
Oncological practice must evolve, from treating established tumours to proactive cancer interception before clinical manifestation. This will require mechanistic insight into tumour initiation, validated biomarkers of early disease development and redesigned clinical trials, enabling cancer interception to become a core pillar of oncology with the ...
