Cobalt‐Free Single‐Crystal Cathodes for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Cobalt‐free single‐crystal cathodes enhance lithium‐ion battery stability by mitigating fracture, degradation, and phase transitions. This review highlights Ni‐rich layered, Li‐Mn‐rich, spinel, and olivine frameworks, synthesis strategies enabling morphology and defect control, and structural tuning via doping and coatings, offering pathways toward ...

Petrogenesis of slab-derived trondhjemite–tonalite–dacite/adakite magmas

open access: yes, 1996
:The prospect of partial melting of the subducted oceanic crust to produce arc magmatism has been debated for over 30 years. Debate has centred on the physical conditions of slab melting and the lack of a definitive, unambiguous geochemical signature and

Engineering Nanoclay Edges to Construct Effective Polysulfide‐Trapping Interface for Markedly Enhanced Electrochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A capsule‐shaped silicate clay (H‐ATP‐N2) rich in protonated edge hydroxyl groups (‐OH2+) is synthesized through a two‐step process involving microwave‐assisted acid treatment and N2 plasma etching to fibrous natural attapulgite. The H‐ATP‐N2 host inhibits the shuttle effect owing to the dominant adsorption mechanism–Lewis acid–base interaction between

High‐Voltage Stability of LiCoO2 Cathode Materials Composited With Vanadium‐Based Glass Coatings

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Vanadium‐based glasses show fluidity and good wettability toward other materials at low temperatures. The controlled precipitation of nanocrystals in vanadium‐based glasses enhances the material's mechanical properties and electrical conductivity. The VPFL coatings bond to the LiCoO2 interface via chemical bonds.

Finalisation of the European Approach to Assess the Fire Performance of Facades—Brief Information on the Outcome of the Project

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research was conducted within the framework of project SI2.825082, funded by the European Commission—DG GROW. The project's objective was to finalise a European approach for assessing the fire performance of façades under medium and large fire exposure conditions.

Martinique: a Clear Case for Sediment Melting and Slab Dehydration as a Function of Distance to the Trench

open access: yes, 2012
In subduction zones, melting and dehydration of the subducted slab introduce material into the mantle wedge and modify its chemical and isotopic composition.

Analysis on Surface Longitudinal Crack of Concasting Slab of Heat Resistant Stainless Steel 310S and Process Improvement

open access: yesTeshugang, 2009
As heat conductivity of austenite heat resistant stainless steel 310S (%:0.05C,24.5Cr,19.3Ni)is poor, only 0.029 × 4.18 J/(cm · ℃)at 100℃,the surface longitudinal cracks with wide 0.1~10 mm and depth 1~20 mm of 200 mm ×(950~2150)mm casting slab easy ...

Nature and distribution of slab‐derived fluids and mantle sources beneath the Southeast Mariana forearc rift

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2013
Subduction zone magmas are produced by melting depleted mantle metasomatized by fluids released from the subducted slab. In most subduction zones, formation of backarc basin (BAB) and arc magmas depletes the mantle source toward the trench, resulting in ...

Quaternary Volcanism in Myanmar: A Record of Indian Slab Tearing in a Transition Zone From Oceanic to Continental Subduction

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
Magmatic processes that occur during the transition from oceanic to continental subduction and collision in orogens are critical and still poorly resolved.

Bio‐inspired nanophotonics: Structural color, chirality, and resonance metasurfaces

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
A butterfly‐wing‐inspired anisotropic plasmonic flatband resonant metasurface. Insets, photo of the butterfly, Sasakia charonda, and the SEM image of its wing scale (above); the SEM image of the metasurface (below). Abstract The dazzling colors of butterfly wings and hummingbird feathers are not painted with pigments, but crafted by nature's invisible ...
