Arc-like magmas generated by mélange-peridotite interaction in the mantle wedge

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Mélange rocks are predicted to form at the slab-mantle interface in most subduction zones, but their role in arc magmatism is still debated. Here, the authors show that melting of peridotite hybridized by mélange rocks produces melts that carry the major

Reconfigurable Giant Nonreciprocity at Near‐Normal Incidence via Phase‐Change Magneto‐Optical Metagratings

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A phase‐change magneto‐optical metagrating combines GST switching with InAs guided‐mode resonances to achieve strong nonreciprocal absorption contrast near normal incidence. A static magnetic bias creates direction‐dependent resonant splitting, while GST crystallization quenches and latches the response.

A boundary layer analysis of electro-magneto-hydrodynamic forced convective transport over a melting slab

open access: yes, 2008
In this work, a boundary layer based integral approach is employed for analyzing the coupled problem of electro-magneto-hydrodynamic convection and melting of an electrically conducting material. The melting process is assumed to occur on a semi-infinite

Control of slab tears and slab flat wedging on volcanism in the Alaska subduction zone

open access: yesScientific Reports
Multistage plate subduction plays a crucial role in magmatism; however, the mechanisms by which deep geodynamic processes govern volcanism in the Alaska subduction zone remain controversial. Using numerous travel-time data from several seismic arrays, we

Correlating Mid‐Infrared Absorption With Radiative Efficiency in Passive Daytime Radiative Cooling Systems

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
We establish a correlation between the mid‐IR photonic response of Passive Daytime Radiative Cooling systems and their thermal radiation performances, characterized within a dedicated setup that simulates the irradiance toward outer space under controlled and reproducible conditions.

Numerical models of the magmatic processes induced by slab breakoff

open access: yes, 2017
Co-auteur étrangerInternational audienceAfter the onset of continental collision, magmatism often persists for tens of millions of years, albeit with a different composition, in reduced volumes, and with a more episodic nature and more widespread spatial

Enabling Under Ice Glider Operations: A Backseat Driver Approach

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polar Oceans are key locations for forcing global ocean circulation, influencing both global climate and biogeochemical cycles. Due to restricted access to these seasonally and perennially ice‐covered regions, these areas are severely undersampled.

Heat Conduction Problem for melting of a slab contactiong with well-stirred fluid

open access: yes, 1979
The approximate analytical solutions and the numerical solutions for melting of a slab, which was contacted with a well-stirred fluid at the surface, were derived and the experiments of melting a solid paraffin were performed.

Exploiting Device Deformability for Fluid and Particle Manipulation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Deformable devices enable fluid and particle manipulation modes that are inaccessible to rigid platforms. This review examines soft materials and architectures that translate controlled deformation into microscale fluid operations such as pumping, valving, mixing, and particle handling.
