Guided Lamb waves in reconfigurable phononic crystal waveguides
We demonstrate experimentally the manipulation of Lamb waves guided along reconfigurable phononic circuits created by defects composed of threaded rods held with nuts in a perforated solid phononic crystal slab.

Using quasi-guided modes for modeling the transfer behavior of bent dielectric slab waveguides [PDF]
The connection of two straight dielectric multimode slab waveguides by a circular bent waveguide is analyzed by means of quasi-guided modes. These modes correspond to the well known leaky modes, but own real eigenvalues, thus the mathematical ...

All-Optical Bistability in Photonic Crystal Slabs with Coupled Cavity-waveguide Structure [PDF]
In this study, we consider a photonic crystal slab with a triangular lattice, which consists of air holes with a circular shape in a tellurium background on top of a Teflon substrate.

Waveguide containing a backward‐wave slab [PDF]
We have considered theoretically the waveguide properties of a plane two‐layered waveguide, whose one layer is a usual magnetodielectric (forward‐wave medium), but another one is a slab of so‐called backward‐wave material (BW‐material), whose both permittivity and permeability are negative.

Optical fiber biosensors can be used to develop point-of-care tests (POCTs) for detecting viruses and bacteria in several matrices. In particular, the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and localized SPR phenomena (LSPR) can be excited by exploiting low ...
