A new kind of slant helix in Pseudo-Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we define a new kind of slant helix called f-eikonal V_{n}-slant helix in Pseudo- Riemannian manifolds and give the definition of harmonic curvature functions related to the f-eikonal V_{n}-slant helix in Pseudo- Riemannian manifolds. Moreover, we give some characterizations of f-eikonal V_{n}-slant helix by making use of the harmonic ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

On rectifying ruled surfaces

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2020
In this study, we define general rectifying ruled surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space E^3. We give some characterizations of rectifying ruled surfaces by considering the curvatures of base curve.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Slant helices, Darboux helices and similar curves in dual space D3 [PDF]

open access: yesMathematica Moravica, 2016
In this paper, we give definitions and characterizations of slant helices, normalized Darboux helices and similar curves in dual space D3. First, we define dual slant helices and dual normalized Darboux helices and show that dual slant helices are also ...

B-tubular surfaces in Lorentzian Heisenberg Group H3

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2015
In this paper, B-tubular surfaces in terms of biharmonic spacelike new type B-slant helices according to Bishop frame in the Lorentzian Heisenberg group H3 are studied. The Necessary and sufficient conditions for new type B-slant helices to be biharmonic

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
