B-tubular surfaces in Lorentzian Heisenberg Group H3

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2015
In this paper, B-tubular surfaces in terms of biharmonic spacelike new type B-slant helices according to Bishop frame in the Lorentzian Heisenberg group H3 are studied. The Necessary and sufficient conditions for new type B-slant helices to be biharmonic

Characterizations of Special Curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this study, the new characterizations of special curves are investigated without using the curvatures of these special curves: general helices, slant helices, Bertrand curves, Mannheim curves.

The proof of theorem which characterizes a slant helix

open access: yesNew Trends in Mathematical Science, 2016
Firstly, the axis of a slant helix is found. Secondly, the theorem which characterizes a slant helix is proved in detail. The importance of this theorem is stemed from that it has been led to doing many papers about slant helices.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Relations between a Dual Unit Vector and Frenet Vectors of a Dual Curve

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2016
In this paper, we generalize the notions of helix and slant helix in dual space in a more general case such as the dual angle between a fixed dual unit vector and Frenet vectors of a dual curve is not constant.

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
