Compensatory growth in slaughter pigs—in vitro muscle protein turnover at slaughter, circulating IGF-I, performance and carcass quality

Livestock Production Science, 2004
Abstract Nine litters, each of four female and four castrated male pigs (Duroc×Landrace×Large White), were allocated to four treatments according to sex and weaning weight, from weaning at day 28 until slaughter at day 140. AA-pigs and RR-pigs were fed ad libitum or restrictively throughout the experiment, respectively.

Relationship of growth performance to pneumonia and atrophic rhinitis detected in pigs at slaughter

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1990
Summary Three commercial swine herds were selected for study, because pigs at slaughter consistently had lung lesions typical of bronchopneumonia and snout lesions consistent with atrophic rhinitis. A Research on Fattening and Slaughter Performance of Pekin Duck

2016

Effects of Liquid Feeding on Growth Performance, Slaughter Performance and Ammonia Emission of Pigs

Indian Journal of Animal Research
Background: Liquid feeding could enhance the growth performance of pigs and was extensively used in Europe. Although several reports showed the effects of liquid feeding on growth performance, there was little research on ammonia in farms. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of liquid feeding and dry feed feeding on growth performance ...

The effect of different slaughter weights on the fattening performance, slaughter and carcass characteristics of male Karayaka lambs

2007
This experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of different slaughter weights on the fattening performance, slaughter and carcass characteristics of male Karayaka lambs at approximately 4 months of age. Thirty-six lambs, the initial liveweights of which were around 26.5 kg, were divided into 3 groups according to slaughter weight [(Group 1: 35 ...
