Lung Cancer Patients Display Increased Expression of Bovine Meat and Milk Factor (BMMF) Proteins in Peritumor Alveolar Macrophages

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Plasmid‐like DNA sequences frequently found in bovine milk and serum have been proposed as infectious agents promoting indirect carcinogenesis. This multi‐omics study detected immune cells positive for these bovine meat and milk factors (BMMFs) in patients with lung cancer, with BMMF expression inversely correlated with smoking intensity.

Nanoplastics: Methods, Exposure and Effects on Domestic, Farm and Wild Animals

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nanoplastics (NPs) are synthetic polymer particles ranging in size from 1 nm to 1 μm that have been identified as a major concern for ecosystems and organisms due to their plethora of negative effects. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge relating to exposure and effects of NPs in domestic (i.e., farm ...

Optimizing feather hydrolysate via machine learning for microbial recycling of waste concrete fines

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND The concrete industry faces significant challenges from CO2 emissions and the disposal of waste concrete fines (WCF). Microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) can bind WCF into bioconcrete, but the high cost of commercial culture media hinders its application.

Are the detection and dimensions of peri‐implant buccal bone defects influenced by different implant materials and their location? An experimental cone‐beam computed tomography study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of different implant materials and arrangements within the field of view (FOV) and exomass on the diagnostic accuracy and image quality of cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) for the detection of peri‐implant buccal bone defects of various sizes. Methods A total of 120 CBCT scans with

Integrating ZooMS and taphonomy further highlights differential processing of animal and Neandertal carcasses in the Quina Mousterian at Les Pradelles (Marillac‐le‐Franc, southwest France)

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cave of Les Pradelles (Marillac‐le‐Franc, France) was repeatedly visited by Neandertals ~55 000 years ago and is a key site in discussions of Neandertal cannibalism. Excavations between 1967 and 1980 (Vandermeersch) and between 2001 and 2013 (Maureille/Mann) produced a rich faunal assemblage (>20 000 bones), alongside Quina Mousterian ...

Controllable DNA Condensation by Mixed Cationic Gemini/Nonionic Surfactant Systems: Structure, Thermodynamics, and Cytotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Surfactants and Detergents, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Controllable DNA condensation is important for nucleic‐acid packaging and non‐viral gene‐delivery systems. This study aimed to determine how the composition of mixed nonionic C12E10 and cationic gemini C12C6C12Br2 surfactants regulates DNA condensation, structure, thermodynamics, and cytotoxicity.
