Parameter-free image segmentation with SLIC

Neurocomputing, 2018
Abstract In this paper, we develop a parameter-free image segmentation framework using Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (SLIC) and Extreme Learning Machines (ELM). SLIC requires a single parameter, the number of centroids k. Our framework, called PF-SLIC (Parameter-Free SLIC) uses an ELM to predict the optimal k, generating a parameter-free ...

Variance adaptive SLIC

2016 IEEE 11th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2016
Superpixel segmentation becomes more and more popular in the fields of computer vision and image processing. The simple linear iterative clustering (SLIC) is widely used due to its high segmentation accuracy and low computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a variance adaptive SLIC (VASLIC) algorithm.

SLiC technique

Surgical Endoscopy, 2005
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) has been an invaluable method for obtaining long-term enteral access and represents one of the first forays in the field of minimally invasive surgery. However, the traditional "pull" method for PEG tube placement continues to have some disadvantages, especially in patients with near-obstructive head and neck ...

Adaptive tuning of SLIC parameter K

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2021
The well-known simple linear iterative clustering (SLIC) is the most effective among the existing algorithms for superpixel segmentation, which requires manual tuning of the number of superpixels K. The optimal value of the parameter K of the SLIC algorithm for a given image is yet an open issue.

SLIC: Short-length iris codes

2009 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Biometrics: Theory, Applications, and Systems, 2009
The texture in a human iris has been shown to have good individual distinctiveness and thus is suitable for use in reliable identification. A conventional iris recognition system unwraps the iris image and generates a binary feature vector by quantizing the response of selected filters applied to the rows of this image.

SLIC - Symbolic Layout of Integrated Circuits

The proceedings of the thirteenth design automation conference on Design automation - DAC '76, NO. 13, 1976
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a symbolic layout technique for MOS integrated circuits. We will give a description of symbolic layout, talk about its potential and briefly describe the symbolic layout system we have developed at AMI.

SLIC Superpixel Segmentation for Polarimetric SAR Images

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2022
Superpixel segmentation approaches for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images have only been studied in recent years. Simple linear iterative clustering (SLIC) is a simple and efficient superpixel segmentation method, first proposed for optical images.

A -SLIC: Acceleration of SLIC Superpixel Segmentation Algorithm in a Co-Design Framework

2020
In this work, we present an optimized pipelined hardware implementation of the accelerated Simple Linear Iterative Clustering algorithm (A-SLIC) for superpixel segmentation. The algorithm is implemented on an FPGA using a hardware-software co-design framework wherein large memory requirements are drawn from off-chip memory.

SLIC: Statistical learning in chip

2014 International Symposium on Integrated Circuits (ISIC), 2014
Despite best efforts, integrated systems are “born” (manufactured) with a unique ‘personality’ that stems from our inability to precisely fabricate their underlying circuits, and create software a priori for controlling the resulting uncertainty. It is possible to use sophisticated test methods to identify the best-performing systems but this would ...

SLIC equalizer for ISI

2012 50th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2012
This paper describes a low complexity equalizer for the ISI channel, which approximates a maximum likelihood sequence estimator (MLSE). Our equalizer is an extension of the SLIC demodulator for the MIMO channel, presented recently. SLIC stands for serial localization with indecision and color suppression. The main features of the SLIC equalizer are: 1)
