Although my discomfiture is directed at the lecturer, my criticism is of the slides used. I would like every lecturer and illustrator to vow never to use one slide if five will do better, and never to use a slide that needs a pointer.

Sliding and ATPase

Sliding machines composed of F-actin and myosin or microtubules and kinesin or dynein convert the free energy of ATP hydrolysis into sliding movements and mechanical work. Development of optical microscopy with micromanipulation techniques has made possible direct observation of single events of sliding exhibited by single sliding machines.

The current practice of slide tracheoplasty for children with long-segment tracheal stenosis is reviewed.In our own series, the mortality for children with long-segment tracheal stenosis managed by slide tracheoplasty in the 5-year period between 1995 and 2000 was 43% (3/7), consistent with other series in the literature.
