Resultant knee joint moments for lateral movement tasks on sliding and non-sliding sport surfaces

open access: yesJournal of Sports Sciences, 2009
The aim of this study was to compare ankle and knee joint moments observed when playing on sport surfaces that slide slightly relative to the ground with the moments observed when playing on conventional sport surfaces. Three-dimensional resultant internal joint moments and kinematic characteristics of the lower extremity were quantified for 21 ...

Critical shear strain and sliding potential of rock joint under cyclic loading

open access: yesTransportation Geotechnics, 2022
A new concept of critical shear strain ετcritical of rock joint under cyclic loading is presented, and the role of ετcritical in evaluating the sliding potential of rock joint is highlighted.

Control of Sliding and Rolling at Natural Joints

Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1984
The planar motion of the human knee joint is modeled, involving the relative motion of the geometry of the contacting surface between the tibia and the femur. The pure gliding motion and the pure rolling motion are formulated including the holonomic and nonholonomic constraints that must be satisfied.

Sliding polymers in the joint alloplastic

Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, 2007
Endoprostheses make it possible to replace a sick or damaged joint with man-made elements. Thanks to numerous clinical trials and to progress in the manufacturing technology, the devices of this type are now more and more modern and reliable. Materials used in endoprostheses have been subject to continuous modifications.

Coulomb friction in mechanism sliding joints

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1982
Abstract Shortcomings in method of solutions of the Coulomb friction problem by other researchers are discussed and a direct method is proposed for introducing the non-linearities of this type of friction into sets of dynamic equations of motion for mechanical systems.

Modified criteria for sliding and non-sliding failure of anisotropic jointed rocks

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2015
Abstract Modified failure criteria are proposed to estimate sliding and non-sliding strength of anisotropic rocks containing single or a set of parallel well-defined discontinuities. A newly modified form of Mohr–Coulomb relation is incorporated into two well-founded failure criteria namely Jaeger’s criterion and Tien–Kuo criterion.
