CCHP optimization for a building through optimal size of the prime mover considering energy, exergy, economics, and environmental aspects

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
A CCHP is proposed for the central building in the gas supply company in Kerman city of Iran. This building has been using a separated generation system before, where it obtained its electrical demand from the main grid and thermal and cooling demand ...

Pruning to Increase Taylor Dispersion in Physarum polycephalum Networks

open access: yes, 2016
How do the topology and geometry of a tubular network affect the spread of particles within fluid flows? We investigate patterns of effective dispersion in the hierarchical, biological transport network formed by Physarum polycephalum.

Slime mould computes planar shapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Computing a polygon defining a set of planar points is a classical problem of modern computational geometry. In laboratory experiments we demonstrate that a concave hull, a connected alpha-shape without holes, of a finite planar set is approximated by ...

How Are Skills Changing with Digital Technologies? Clarifying Boundary Conditions in Management Research

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This article contributes to discussions about the future of work by providing a systematic review of the broad yet fragmented management literature on how skills are changing with digital technologies (DTs). Our aim was to understand the nature of scholarly engagement with this relationship to inform a future research agenda.

Beyond the Adult Mind: A Developmental Framework for Predictive Processing in Infancy

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Predictive Processing has been proposed as the single unifying computation underlying all of cognition, and proponents argue that all psychological phenomena can be explained as consequences of this principle. This theoretical framework has inspired many cognitive scientists and neuroscientists, but it currently has no developmental mechanism ...

BU-DLNet: Breast Ultrasonography-Based Cancer Detection Using Deep-Learning Network Selection and Feature Optimization

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
Early detection of breast lesions and distinguishing between malignant and benign lesions are critical for breast cancer (BC) prognosis. Breast ultrasonography (BU) is an important radiological imaging modality for the diagnosis of BC.

Optimal multi-objective discrete decision making using a multidirectional modified Physarum solver [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper will address a bio-inspired algorithm able to incrementally grow decision graphs in multiple directions for discrete multi-objective optimization. The algorithm takes inspiration from the slime mould Physarum Polycephalum, an amoeboid organism

Continual decision‐making dynamics across biological organisms

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 3, Page 1059-1072, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Decision‐making is a central function of adaptive behaviour in biological agents. However, strategies for adaptive decision‐making can vary substantially across species. Here, we aim to extend the comparative scope of decision‐making analyses to phylogenetically diverse organisms.

Complete Chloroplast Genomes of Ranunculus arvensis and Ranunculus laetus: Comparative Analysis and Phylogenetic Insights

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Here, we de novo assembled the chloroplast genomes of Ranunculus arvensis and Ranunculus laetus, providing comprehensive comparative analysis with 21 congeners. The genomes exhibited conserved quadripartite structures with no major rearrangements, though lineage‐specific variations in atpH position were detected in two species.
