Determination Rule for α, β Directions and φ in Teaching of Slip-Line Theory

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, 2023
In the teaching of plastic mechanics and applications of slip-line theory using conventional methods, multivalued results are usually caused by the uncertain direction of the slip line and dip angles.

Trajectory Tracking Control for Subsea Mining Vehicles Based on Fuzzy PID Optimised by Genetic Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
In deep-sea mining operations, the seabed sediments (mud and sand) are very soft and slippery. This often causes tracked vehicles to slip and veer off course when they are driving on the seafloor.

Comparison of different Gaussian quadrature rules for lattice Boltzmann simulations of noncontinuum Couette flows: From the slip to free molecular flow regimes

open access: yesPhysics of Fluids, 2023
The lattice Boltzmann (LB) method can be formulated directly from the Boltzmann equation with the Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook assumption. This kinetic origin stimulates wide interest in applying it to simulate flow problems beyond the continuum limit. In this article, such a thought is examined by simulating Couette flows from the slip to free molecular flow

Simplified method for analyzing soil slope deformation under cyclic loading

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2022
Reasonable assessment of slope deformation under cyclic loading is of great significance for securing the safety of slopes. The observations of centrifuge model tests are analyzed on the slope deformation behavior under cyclic loading conditions.

Discrete dislocation simulations and size dependent hardening in single slip [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Plastic deformation in two-dimensional monophase and composite materials is studied using a discrete dislocation dynamics method. In this method, dislocations are represented by line defects in a linear elastic medium, and their interactions with ...

The Rules for the Lattice Rotation Accompanying Slip as DerivedFrom a Self‐Consistent Model [PDF]

open access: yesTexture, Stress, and Microstructure, 1998
The rules for the lattice rotation during rolling (plane strain) deformation of fcc polycrystals are studied with a viscoplastic self‐consistent model. Very high values of the ratesensitivity exponent are used in order to establish Sachs‐type conditions with large local deviations from the macroscopic strain.

Critical Study on the Tube-to-Chip Luer Slip Connectors

open access: yesFrontiers in Medical Technology, 2022
Luer slip is one of the gold standards for chip-to-world interface in microfluidics. They have outstanding mechanical and operational robustness in a broad range of applications using water and solvent-based liquids.

Evading the strength-ductility trade-off dilemma in steel-nickel heterostructured material by bionic crossed-lamellar structures

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping, 2023
Despite the limitations imposed by their composition, natural materials overcome the trade-off between strength and ductility through their unique structural features.
