Effects of physiographical factors on some qualitative and quantitative characteristics of Pistacia vera L. at Khajeh Kalat forest in Khorasan Razavi province [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات جنگل و صنوبر ایران, 2009
This study was carried out in the Pistachio forests of Khajeh Kalat with an area of 6393 ha. In order to study the effect of physiographical factors (aspect, slope and altitude) on qualitative and quantitative characteristics (crown area, viability and ...

Slope aspect and altitude effect on selected soil organic matter characteristics in Beskid Mountains forest soils

open access: yes, 2021
In the era of dynamic climate change, it is important to have knowledge on the interactions between climatic factors and processes occurring in the soil environment.

Evaluation of terrain geomorphometric characteristics for ground clearance charts production

open access: yesVojnotehnički Glasnik, 2011
Geomorphometric exploration applied in the military terrain analysis is based on the GIS methodology of spatial analyses and is related primarily to military terrain analyses.

Elevational ground/air thermal gradients in the Swiss inner Alpine Valais

open access: yesArctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research, 2020
The dependence of air temperature on elevation (i.e., its elevational gradient) in the mountains is well known. However, the elevational gradient of near-surface ground temperatures and derived thermal parameters is much less understood.

Soil Management and Slope Impacts on Soil Properties, Hydrological Response, and Erosion in Hazelnut Orchard

open access: yesSoil Systems, 2021
Proper soil management is crucial to mitigate soil degradation. Hazelnut orchards are often raised on slopes and intensively managed, which makes them similar to the already defined highly erodible land uses like vineyards.

Evaluating the impacts of slope aspect on forest dynamic succession in Northwest China based on FAREAST model

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2018
Mountain forests provide the main water resources and lumber for Northwest China. The understanding of the differences in forests growing among individual slope aspects in mountainous regions is of great significance to the wise management and planning ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Impact of Climate and Slope Aspects on the Composition of Soil Bacterial Communities Involved in Pedogenetic Processes along the Chilean Coastal Cordillera

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2022
Soil bacteria play a fundamental role in pedogenesis. However, knowledge about both the impact of climate and slope aspects on microbial communities and the consequences of these items in pedogenesis is lacking. Therefore, soil-bacterial communities from
