Grazing Intensity, Aspect, and Slope Effects on Limestone Grassland Structure

open access: yes, 2004
Three treatments were used to evaluate the effect of grazing intensity (ca 30% and 50% herbage removal), aspect (north and south), and slope ( 10% and 10%-30%) on plant community structure of mountain grasslands in the Basque Country (Spain).

Facing north or south: Does slope aspect impact forest stand characteristics and soil properties in a semiarid trans-Himalayan valley? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An understanding of the differences in vegetation and soil characteristics between slope aspects in high altitude semiarid environments is fundamentally important for efficient management of these semi-natural systems; however, few studies have ...

Interactive effect of slope aspect and rainfall intensity on soil permeability compared to acidic rainfalls

open access: yes, 2021
Introduction: The amount of soil permeability depends on the size of the holes, concentration of liquid, and surface tensile force. In fact, factors affecting the initial porosity are also effective in permeability. The results of different research show

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Plant species diversity in relation to physiographical factors at Dehsorkh Woodland [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات جنگل و صنوبر ایران, 2005
Species diversity is an important characteristic of bio-communities. Organisms diversity, diversity measurement and hypothesis test in relation to diversity causes are issues which the ecologists are interested in for long period.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Effect of rounding off elevation values on the calculation of aspect and slope from a gridded digital elevation model

open access: yes, 2013
Slope and aspect derived from digital elevation models are important variables used regularly in geographical information systems for modelling purposes.

Response of soil nutrients and erodibility to slope aspect in the northern agro-pastoral ecotone, China [PDF]

open access: yes
Soil erosion, considered a major environmental and social problem, leads to the loss of soil nutrients and the degradation of soil structure and impacts plant growth.

Intra-specific competition of Persian Oak (Quercus brantii Var. persica) and its relationship with physiographic factors and fine root biomass (Case study: Ghalegol, Lorestan) [PDF]

open access: yesمجله جنگل ایران, 2018
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of some physiographic factors on competition index (CI) and fine root biomass (FRB) in coppice Persian oak trees (Quercus brantii Var.

Theoretical Study of the Aspect Ratio of a Solar Still with Double Slopes [PDF]

open access: yesLinköping Electronic Conference Proceedings, 2011
Clean water is essential for good health which influences the social and economic development of any nation. However, there is limited access to safe water on a global scale. This challenge can be overcome through a multi-faceted approach, including the development of appropriate technologies for water treatment and decision-making tools.
