Annular slot windshield antenna
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1998This paper discusses the development of a conformal automobile antenna for the AM/FM band. It is implemented by using a heat reduction metal film imbedded in the windshield to create an annular gap or slot at the circumference. Impedance characteristics and gain patterns are shown. The antenna system is effective, inexpensive and invisible.

Unidirectional miniaturized slot antennas
2008 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium, 2008A technique for designing unidirectional miniaturized slot antennas is presented in this paper. Our approach takes advantage of the simultaneous application of two different techniques used to reduce the lateral dimensions of a shallow cavity-backed slot antenna.

A novel cavity-backed slot antenna is proposed and experimentally studied. The antenna consists of a slot cut in a ground plane and backed by shorting strips, forming a backing cavity. Preliminary results based on a prototype show a 2:1 VSWR input impedance bandwidth of more than 20%, which can be further enhanced.
