A polarization-agile waveguide slot antenna

We present a new waveguide slot configuration able to radiate a circular polarization with a very low axial ratio. Both LH and RH circular polarization can be independently obtained, and therefore this configuration can be used as a polarization agile antenna.

Polymeric slot waveguide at visible wavelength

Polymeric slot waveguide structure, which pushes the mode field toward the surrounding media, was designed and characterized. The slot waveguide was fabricated by using nanoimprint lithography, and the operation of the slot was demonstrated at 633 nm wavelength with an integrated Young interferometer.

Suppression of slot mode in slotted waveguide antennas

It has been found experimentally that the efficiency of radiation of the slot mode in slotted waveguide antennas increases with the slot width. The excitation of the slot mode can be prevented by covering the slot with a thin film of metal. Alternatively, the slot may be covered with a sheet of dielectric to suppress the slot mode.

A travelling-wave sinusoidal slotted waveguide antenna is investigated. To the best of our knowledge, a sinusoidal slot is applied to the narrow face of a rectangular waveguide at this frequency range, for the first time. In experiment, far-field and S-parameters are measured.

Silicon based slot-waveguides for high optical mode confinement of quasi-TE (vertical slot) and quasi-TM (horizontal slot) mode have been demonstrated independently [2,3]. These structures are highly birefringent, which limits their usability in photonic devices.

Annular slots for circularly polarized slotted substrate integrated waveguide array

A new type of circularly polarized slot radiator is presented. Good polarization performances are reached for both left-hand and right hand circular polarization (LHCP, RHCP). The slot configuration consists of an annular slot placed correctly on the upper wall of the waveguide. Several annular contours and positions have been tested and compared.
