Playing with fire: Wolf response to active wildfires, fire fronts and smoke

This study is one of the first, to our knowledge, to explicitly examine fine‐scale behavioural responses of a large carnivore to actively burning wildfires, fire fronts and smoke. The study found that wolves balanced the potential risks and benefits associated with wildfires, with implications for predator–prey dynamics in fire‐prone regions.
