FLOW STRUCTURE IN THE HORIZONTAL SLUG FLOW
Successions of long gas bubbles and liquid slugs form the so-called slug flow pattern in a gas-liquid flow. A unit cell encompassing one gas bubble and one liquid slug characterizes this alternating gas-liquid flow. The kinematic and dynamic flow mechanisms responsible for the interactions between the successive unit cells are still an open question ...

Modelling of transient gas-liquid flow and pigging in pipes [PDF]
More and more transient gas-liquid operations in pipes are being successfully applied in the oil and gas industry. Pigging in two-phase pipelines, to remove liquid accumulation or for cleaning purposes, is an important transient operation.

Mechanically Programmable DNA Hydrogel Microparticles for 3D Cellular Systems
DNA hydrogel microparticles are designed to exhibit controllable viscoelasticity and stiffness across three orders of magnitude from 30Pa$30 \,\mathrm{Pa}$ to 6.5kPa$6.5 \,\mathrm{kPa}$. They are uptaken into fibroblast spheroids where they are actively remodeled by cellular forces depending on their mechanical properties.

Characterization of subregimes in two-phase slug flow
A new subdivision of the slug flow region, determined on the basis of different flow features, is presented. The characteristic features of each subregime have been shown by diffusional analysis of experimental time series relative to intermittent flow ...

Numerical simulation of various flow regimes in water delivery systems
Transient flow frequently occurs in water delivery systems, including various flow regimes such as water hammer, free surface flow, and slug flow. Current models often oversimplify these phenomena by simulating single-phase flow or using simplistic one ...

Void Fraction And Pressure Waves In A Transient Horizontal Slug Flow
The void fraction and the pressure waves in an air-water mixture flowing in the slug regime are experimentally investigated in a horizontal line. The test section is made of a transparent Plexiglas pipe with 26 mm ID and 26.24 m long, operating at ...
