Small signal modeling of wind farms

2017 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2017
In large power electronic systems like a wind farm, the mutual interactions between the control systems of the power converters can lead to various stability and power quality problems. In order to predict the system dynamic behavior, this paper presents an approach to model a wind farm as a Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) dynamic system, where the ...

Small-signal modeling of HVDC systems

2020
In this chapter, how the current control loop and the outer loops that feed to it can be analyzed via small-signal modeling was shown. Thereby, an input-admittance matrix is formed, which characterizes the behavior of the VSC-HVDC terminal as seen from the PCC. This matrix is operating-point dependent. By modeling the grid impedance as a matrix as well,

Graphical small-signal modeling based on the inductor waveform

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
A graphical small-signal modeling based on the inductor waveform is presented in this paper. Small-signal perturbation is superimposed on the large-signal inductor waveform under steady-state condition and then the output voltage variation from small-signal perturbation is calculated by equivalent circuit.

Small signal modeling of illuminated MOSFET for RF application

Proceedings of the International Conference & Workshop on Emerging Trends in Technology - ICWET '11, 2011
Recent development in the device technology has led to the potential research in the area of optical characterization of FET devices. It is mainly because of the high gain, speed, power handling capacity and high packing density of IC viz. OEIC, MMIC, VLSI, etc.

Small Signal Model Averaging of Bi-Directional Converter

2018 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology (EIT), 2018
We consider the problem of modeling a bi-directional AC/DC converter using a small signal approach coupled with cycle averaging to simplify the model for use in digitized control. Small power sources (≤ 1000W) tend to have more abrupt transient power flow due to the associated characteristic low inertia. This is prevalent in small wind turbine systems.

Small Signal Modeling of Full Bridge Boost Converter

2019 IEEE 28th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2019
In this paper, a small signal model for full bridge boost converters is derived by using state space averaging method. The converter is extensively used for integration of renewable resources such as PV panels. The obtained model can be used for designing linear control systems for regulating the converter’s current or voltage.

On small signal equivalent circuit models for quantum dots

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2017
SummaryIn this paper, we introduce small signal equivalent circuit models for quantum dots at equilibrium driven by classical electromagnetic fields. We investigate both an isolated quantum dot and a pair of interacting quantum dots coupled by the electric dipole–dipole interaction.

Three-phase photovoltaic inverter small-signal modelling and model verification

6th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2012), 2012
The number of power electronic converters is increasing in the grid due to favourable political climates regarding renewable energy resources. Grid-parallel inverters have been shown to suffer from reliability problems that may not be solved with pure time domain analysis.

FET Small Signal Modeling and Parameter

2010
In this chapter, we introduce small-signal modeling and parameter extraction technique for FETs, an III-V compound semiconductor device pseudomorphic high electron-mobility transistor (PHEMT) is used as an example. The parameter extraction includes pad capacitances, extrinsic inductances, extrinsic resistances, and intrinsic elements extractions.
